New Series and Season Premieres!

It’s January. It’s Prague. The weather is colder than Cersei’s heart when she destroyed half of King’s Landing. It’s time for some Netflix and chill, am I right? No? Yes? Yes. The only question now is: What to watch? That is, if you’re the type to actually watch the show during Netflix and chill.

Whether you’re a binger and spend most of your day in front of the screen or whether you watch shows like the rest of us eat broccoli, we’ve got something for you. We here at the F.U.N have done our research (the most enjoyable research one can conduct, no doubt) and boy, do we have some suggestions for you.

But before we get into all the new shows and seasons renewals, we have some bad news for those who like to cry out “Marco!”. Unfortunately, no one’s going to reply “Polo” anymore. Marco Polo, the Netflix epic has been cancelled after its second season release.

The decision was a mutual decision between Netflix and producers the Weinstein Company. Interestingly enough, the show is the first Netflix original series not to make it to a third season. However, it’s not that the show was poorly made, or uninteresting. It simply cost too much to make. The sum of the budget for the two seasons was $200 million and the viewership simply could not justify that.

So, as we bid farewell to Marco and Kublai, we too, bid farewell to the following shows that are concluding with their final seasons:

  • Vampire Diaries – season 8
  • Bones – season 12
  • Bates Motel – season 5
  • Black Sails – season 4
  • Pretty Little Liars – season 7
  • Workaholics – season 7

So if you haven’t seen any of these brilliant shows, you can start binging with the comfort of knowing that you will never have to wait for a new season to be released. Speaking of which, most of us are probably wondering whether our favourite shows are even going to be renewed, presenting us the bittersweet opportunity to wait these new season releases.

A special mention goes out to Mr. Robot and American Horror Story, two shows that are currently gaining much popularity. Both have been renewed for a new batch of episodes for their 3rd and 7th seasons respectively. The following shows have managed to extend their lifelines, making for some very happy fans all around the world:

  • The Flash – Season 4
  • Arrow – Season 6
  • Supernatural – Season 13
  • Empire – Season 4
  • Simpsons – Seasons 29 and 30
  • Homeland – Seasons 6–8 have been ordered, with 6 starting on February 15th
  • Suits – Season 7

Luckily for Sherlock and Black Mirror fans, their wait is over, with the first episode of Sherlock having premiered on January 1st and Black Mirror having in one go, already released all 6 episodes of seasons 3 and 4.

If any of you are looking for some new extremely well made and/or creative shows to watch, here is a list of the hottest shows out there this moment:

  • Westworld (1 season out)
  • Peaky Blinders (3 seasons out)
  • Transparent (… seasons out)
  • Stranger Things (1 season out)

And while you pass the time watching these, the wait for the new release of Blacklist: Redemption–a Blacklist spinoff series, will feel like nothing.  Even if you’re not a Blacklist fan, you’ll probably be jumping in elation at our final offering for you today. In the spirit of saving the best for last, we will get to witness the release of Prison Break season 5 as a mini-series! It’s set to start on April 4th to some likely massive viewership counts and all around happy fans. So there it is, we hope you enjoyed reading this and happy watching during these sub-zero temperatures!
